Broome

A few very nice days spent in Broome. We will be heading South tomorrow & hopefully it should start getting cooler. I shouldn't complain as the last 2 days have been a lot more comfortable, down around 30 degrees. We loved Broome, its a pity it is such a marathon to get here. As we are once again heading off grid, I will probably not be able to post for quite a few days.
The pics are all strictly Broome....

Really nice broken sandstone cliffs near the lighthouse.

 As above.

 More rocks & water.

I took heaps of pictographs of the rocks, so I have to put a few up.

An eagle nesting in the lighthouse.

 The whole lighthouse.

 Some more rocks.

The red cliffs really contrast with the blue Indian ocean.

The road from the lighthouse to the port. A little dusty & a little bumpy.

These rocks have a bird added & therefore a little different.

The Japanese cemetary. Nearly all young men who were pearl divers who died of the bends or getting caught in cyclones, which are very common here.

Morning walk back on the beach again.

I met a friend on the beach who tried to bite my toe off.

Nippers from the local SLSC racing. The adults are there to make sure they don't drown.

Its' hard not to take pictures of this place.

This is a pictograph of my wife.

The oldest continuously used open air picture theatre in the world, it still runs movies every night after 105 years. It has a facade but no roof inside.

After a swim in the very cool pool. It was much colder than the ocean.

 Camel rides on the beach.

 At the markets in Chinatown.

Camp Broome.

This is our group having a swim in the ocean in the late afternoon. (Pic by Jo)
