Kalgoorlie to Ceduna across the Nullarbor, 3 long days of driving but lots to see & definitely not boring. We arrived in Ceduna ready for a break, so we are staying here for 2 nights before setting off for Port Augusta. Home is only a few thousand K away & not too many more stops. We are ready to move out of an aluminium box & back into a house.
Final diesel fill up at Norseman, prior to entering the Nullarbor proper.
Still a few roadside flowers heading into the Nullarbor.
A tough way to cross the Nullarbor, pushing a trolley.
Entering the long straight. Note we had a pleasant day of clouds & a great 20 knot tailwind, saving us a bout $30.00 of diesel for the day.
On the straight.
At Baxter freecamp about 500k out of Kalgoorlie.
Yvonne looking into the Caiguna blow hole. Even though it was quite a cool day, the air blowing out was downright refrigerated.
Caiguna blow hole.
Info for above.
Another hardy soul doing the crossing on a bike.
Sizing up our cliff top overnight camp on the Great Australian Bite.
Yet another crazy.
Later the signs warned of wombats & camels.
Coming down the escarpment at Madura on the Nullabor.
Driving.
Back at our cliff top camp 25k past Bordertown SA.
Pano as above.
Driving along the cliff tops of the Bite.
From the caravan of our overnight stay.
Another great view from a lookout.
Our overnight cliff top camp 25K from Bordertown. We had a rock & roll night when strong winds blew up.
Near the top of the cliffs, showing that this was all sea floor millions of years ago.
Out front of our overnight camp.
Looking south from the van.
Just breath taking.
As above.
As above.
When I was a baby my dad worked as a railway fettler from Cook on the Nullabor. I would loved to have gone there to have a look, but towing a van there was not an option, so this was as close as we got.
Nullarbor roadhouse at the start of the treeless plain.
As above.
On the treeless plain. Yep no trees.
And heres another one, this time on a stand up bike.
The long red road approaching Ceduna.
The windmill museum at Penong.
As above, this one is Australias' largest windmill. It seemed much bigger than it looks on this pictograph.
Kind of a strange windmill.
Another view of the big one.
Another pair of fruit loops.
Bush camp Baxter.
Sunset, bush camp Baxter.
Finally arrived at Ceduna.
Some fairly big fish beside the jetty at Ceduna.
Ceduna jetty. We are in the caravan park behind the pine trees just to the right of the jetty.
Clear water beside the jetty, you can see the sea weed on the bottom.
