Day 2 in Perth...The City.

Yesterday we sused out public transport & went into the city where we rode the free red cat bus around & went to the mint & did some other stuff. We also spotted Steve & his family driving down the main street of Perth in their orange combi, PUT 75. We first came across them back in Darwin & have been crossing paths ever since.
Today was house keeping shopping & a trip to the nearby Northern beaches.
Tomorrow we are taking a cruise to Freemantle to do more stuff.

The mall in the heart of Perth.

 As above.

Another part of the mall, built in Olde Worlde European style. It was very well done & looked authentic.

 As above.

 & again.

 Entrance to Perth mint.

A 12.5 kg gold ingot which you can reach in & feel the weight.

The furnace being prepared to pour another gold ingot.

The largest solid gold coin in the world. Face value $1,000.000.00. Actual gold value $16,000,000.00 It was cast during a visit by the Queen in 2012.

 Info on the above coin.

The second biggest gold nugget in the world.

Some old church in the city & because Greg wasn't here we didn't have to go inside.

A fancy foot bridge we walked over while walking around Elizabeth Quay.

We took a ferry to south Perth. This is looking back as we left the ferry terminal.

Another giant waste of tax payers money. Built by white guys to show the aboriginal legend of white people coming by ship.

Looking back at the city from South Perth.

An old boat tied up at the Quay.

A little about this park. We were told it was the best park in Perth. Some of the other travelers here say it is the best park in Australia. We have not seen better anywhere & we have stayed in a lot of parks. Incredible amenities, spotlessly clean park, you have a choice of grass or concrete site. We chose concrete with the slab big enough for van, annexe & car. The grounds are lovely. All the deciduous trees are just beginning to bud for spring.

The toenail I split in Onslow is healing up now. I am sure you were very concerned.

 Our street in the park.

One of 2 lakes in the park.

There is a 3 pool complex. This pool is heated, very pleasant.

 This is the unheated pool.

In the foreground is the giant heated spa.

 Hot pool, cool pool.

It was freezing cold out & thats Yvonne through the steam of the giant spa pool last night.

A bird taking a rest on the beach on wild, windy day.

 Part of Sorrento beach.

Yvonne checking out some wild water.

A wild, windy day.

 A picturesque walk.

 A cool little gully.

Hillarys Harbour, where the poor people keep their boats.

 As above.

 Just waiting for a fish.

Some seals on a rock just outside the harbour.

Part of the resort associated with the harbour..

  1. I think that you may have passed through Fremantle as well in 1957, however you were probably only just past the "gleam in Dad's eye" part ......not sure about that timing.
